A new beginning. A new end.

Some things never change while others stay the same. My love of camping was bred into me from an early age. We spent many school holidays camped at the beach with the family and sometimes friends. As kids, we got to swim and play on the beach, while dad could indulge in his love of fishing. So what better place to trial the new camper for the first time. I had great weather for it with a fresh sea breeze and cool temperatures. Being a weekday, I was alone, but that didn't stop me. All I wanted to do was sit and look at the view. So I did. I sat and looked at the view. I can do this for hours. All in all, the new camper worked great. The tent was comfortable and everything set up and packed up quickly and easily. It was a basic camp with just a chair, table and stove. Simplicity is my favorite motto, for I am but a simple man. As I mentioned in the last blog update, I'm trying to figure out where to start with personalizing the new rig. The beers worked and I have my first project in the planning. I'll be building some shelves and compartments to house the regular items like the cooking gear and water bottle. While driving down the beach, a couple of whoops in the sand got everything jumping. So opening the canopy doors offered up the first issue. How to keep everything in its place. The first casualty was my old faithful 10L water bottle. I'd become quite attached to it. It was now ventilated. Luckily for this trip it was only ventilated at the top. The gas stove and BBQ plate I still keep in the cardboard boxes for protection. Well those boxes didn't like the beach drive either. It's not much, but it's a start. I have even upgraded my old chair. The many trips to the fridge highlighting the need for something a little easier to get in and out of. I felt like I'd been doing squats with a medicine ball all night. :-)

In a previous blog I noted that my camping buddy had a new trailer. A Hard Korr. A great thing it was. I say was, as it is now no more. Disappointingly due to budgetary issues, she had to be moved on. So it's back to the awning and cot/swag for him. Luckily he likes the cot. And simple it is as well.
